Zines

Zine history is dependent on what is considered its beginnings. As printing inventions and technologies evolved so did self-publishing. Some prominent zine history markers:

1920s - Harlem Renaissance and publications called “little magazines”
1930s - science fiction zines 
1970s - punk circles as created zines about bands and punk culture
1990s - punk feminist movement Riot grrrl created zines as about part of an activist movement about music and politics
