This article discusses the intersection of privacy and artificial intelligence (AI). The authors utilize documented AI privacy incidents from the AI, Algorithmic and Automation Incident and Controversy Repository (AIAAIC) and apply Solove’s taxonomy of privacy with the result that AI exacerbates known privacy intrusions and creates new ones in addition. The authors also interviewed industry AI practitioners to evaluate whether they possess the ability to mitigate these AI privacy threats.

AJL’s mission is to raise public awareness about the impacts of AI, equip advocates with resources to bolster campaigns, build the voice and choice of the most impacted communities, and galvanize researchers, policymakers, and industry practitioners to prevent AI harms.
