What is in this process for you?

  • The research plan gets your team up and running on sources needed within the first few weeks of the semester!


Why is this Important: as teams are required to analyze both the industry and company within the first few weeks of the semester.

  • Helps to learn about new or previously unknown sources!

Why is this important:  Projects are unique and require leveraging both library and outside resources! 

  • You will be able to apply research (original research, data, scholarship, articles) to a real business problem/need.

Why is this important: an outcome of our program is to prepare you for thinking critically and to apply information in the context of solving a business problem is an important outcome.

After this research session:

Student(s) teams will know how to get help from the library and subject librarian

Student(s) can identify databases to best being their industry and company research

Student(s) are able to apply research to a business problem or need

Research Planning Form and initial meeting due on or before October 7, 2022

Every Senior Experience Team will complete a research plan PRIOR to meeting with the Business & Economics Librarian. Both research plan and consultation to be completed prior to 10/07/22

Steps to the Process:

  1. Complete (as a team) your research planner. 
  • You will need to provide the following: email address to team lead, team number, name of the sponsor. 
    • The planner asks you about research related to the following areas: (View questions as a PDF, note submit the form online (see link above)
      • Company
      • Industry 
      • Project Scope - research/methods
  1. Use Calendly (librarian's scheduling software) to view a time that works for a research consultation. Librarian will confirm your research appointment and provide a Zoom meeting link. 
     
    •    Schedule wisley - appointments/consultations for credit as part of the Research Plan must be completed PRIOR to 10/07/2022.
       
  2. Arrive on time for your consultation with the Business & Economics Librarian. Be prepared to discuss the submitted (this was done in step #1) research plan. This time is intended to help you and your team.
     
  3. Librarian is documenting teams who complete their research consultations (as this is a grading component). 
     

I appreciate your understanding that in addition to working with BUS 495 - I am also providing research assistance and library instruction to other courses.
