Opening O'Reilly Online Learning ebooks

Follow the steps below to open an O'Reilly Online Learning E-book in a browser:

  • If you are off-campus, you will have to login using your CSUSM username and password.

  • Once you click on "Full text available at" or "Online access may be available" you will be taken to a page that will show you which database platforms host the book.  There might be more than one in which case you can choose any of them.  In the example below, you can see that it is hosted by O'Reilly Online Learning E-Books. Click on that.

  • On the next page you will see a box that either reads "Start" or "Continue." Click on that.

  • The book will open on your device.  You can page through the entire book as shown by the arrow below or you can use the Table of Contents to go to a specific section of the book.

Reading on an App

 

Follow the steps below to read O'Reilly Online Learning ebooks on a device.

  • Type in your CSUSM email address and then click the Sign In box.

  • Your CSUSM email address will be auto-populated into the next screen.  Click on Sign in with SSO.

  • In order to link your CSUSM account to the O'Reilly App you will have to click Continue when you get to the screen like the one shown below.

  • You will then be taken to a screen where you will need to input your Campus Username and Password.

  • You will then be taken to Your O'Reilly App and will see a screen like the one below.

  • To search for books click on the magnifying glass.  You can search by title, author, or topic.

  • Type your search terms in the box shown below.

  • A list of results will be shown.

  • Click on the book that you want.  It should open.  Then click on Read Now to read the text in full or Download Book.
