You can add items to your Library Reserves List that are available physically in the Library or electronically through the Library databases. Materials that are added to your Library Reserves List that are not available through the CSUSM Library will be reviewed by library staff. For books, library staff will request for the library to purchase an e-book version or physical copy, however, approval is based on material type and cost and it not guaranteed. For electronic material like articles or book chapters, library staff will scan the material from our collection if faculty do not have a PDF copy already.
There are several ways to add resources to your list:
Steps:
Select an item from the list of results, drag and drop the citation into the correct section OR click on the record, choose which section to add it to and click Add:
You can also send a search result to a reserves list directly from Library Search:
The item is added to your list:
Click on the item to add tags and notes.
Cite It! is a tool that allows you to link articles, web pages, YouTube videos, etc. to your Library Reserves List. Simply install Cite It! into your bookmarks bar and you can place any URL directly into your Library Reserves List. The button works with Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
Steps:
When you find something online you'd like to add to a list, for example, a news article or a YouTube video:
Cite It! checks to see if the article or item you want to include in your Library Reserves List is already available through the CSUSM library. Cite It! will check to see if the CSUSM library already has it.
Items saved in your Favorites can be added directly from there or from within a list. See the steps below for adding favorites from within a list.

You can add items to your Favorites the same way as described in the Library Search and Internet Sources steps but instead of selecting a list or section, choose Favorites. See the Favorite page for more information.
Steps:
If you have a PDF of the article/book chapter you would like on reserve, please email it to reserve@csusm.edu. If your PDF scan is not up to ADA standards or you do not have a PDF already, the Library will request any electronic material not owned by CSUSM through Inter-Library Loan or scan book chapters from books in the CSUSM collection.

If you use Mendeley or Zotero you can connect your account to Library Reserves Lists and then use the Import references option to add items to a list.

When creating a list or adding new items to an existing list, items will show a status of "Being Prepared" or "Ready for Processing".
