What do you get when you combine a love for public speaking, business research, and a master in library and information science? Me, your Business and Economics Librarian.
My undergrad is in Speech: Interpersonal and Organizational Communication from CSU, Long Beach. I got the research bug at CSUSLB too; I was a student prospect researcher that spent a lot of time in the library and in subscription online databases researching companies, foundations, industries, etc. Knowing I wanted to work in either academic or special libraries I obtained my Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) is from San Jose State University. As your Business and Economics Librarian I get to research and talk about it - so perfect fit!
In addition, I have extensive industry experience. I have worked in a range of positions from manufacturing sales, customer service, management, and starting a successful business from scratch (0 customers)!
Librarian Philosophy: You will often hear me say, "Get messy, Make Mistakes, Ask Questions, and Learn!" It is by trying and making errors that we learn best. Being willing to sit in the often uncomfortable space of uncertainty and "not knowing answers" is where we experience growth and knowledge. I encourage you to reach out if you have questions. The best ways to reach is via email, or you can easily schedule a 30 minute research consult using my scheduling software (click just above the library address).
My research interests are in the practices of embedded librarianship. I am actively involved in service as a member of BRASS ( Business Reference And Services Section) and the Business Information Sources Committee. Work on this committee involved discussion and adding criterion on DEI to business sources nominated annually for outstanding business information sources.
My personal interests are outdoor adventuring (off roading with my Jeep, camping, hiking, biking), gardening (I have a water-wise garden), and playing with my two dogs and two cats (all from Rancho Coastal Humane Society).
